Contextual Refrence

Helen Clark

Helen Clarke is a fine art printmaker.
These image and the quotations are sourced from her website, Woody Pear. (http://www.woodypear.com/etchimages1.html)

"Red Chair
The Australian Kestrels live in our patch, using the surrounding paddocks to search for their food. I began considering how the loss of habitat
might affect this clever bird. Already they live around the buildings, using any facility they need including the dog's water bowl. Perhaps they would find a novel solution to the problem of a place for their nest!

Hand Coloured Etching.

Rendering my etchings by hand is something that I would be interested in attempting, it has really successful and striking results with this red chair one here.

Eucalyptus preissiana - a study
A straggly mallee with lemon coloured flowers from the southwest coastal area of WA.
30 x 10cm, hand coloured etching, edition 40.

The detail in these fonts is very beautiful, and I would like to be able to show off some detail such as this with my own prints, however I think that the colours and even the very observational quality of line in these images does make them slightly less impactful and exciting as I would want to aim for in order to justify Terry Pratchett's works nature.
