Contextual refrences

Requiem for Romance by Johnathan Ng

I really like the ink backgrounds that move around this animation and the gestural, expressive brush pen aesthetics. they're really impressive effective. They give the whole animation a much stronger and more emotive feel to them, especially with the use of cooler colours. The very evident handcrafted nature of the ink running textures also gives this animation a sort of extra dimensional feel, where you are made to think about the animation being made by some one (that is relevant to the content of the animation|) as opposed to just watching a 2D box on a screen and being caught up in that single reality story.
